About 8 |
We are Alex, Des and Raval – three friends and entrepreneurs who make up the 8 Water team.
We are your local, homegrown and proudly 100% NZ-owned and operated company. We stand behind our brand and product and put our names on it.
One thing that makes us unique is the "Made and Bottled to Order” concept which ensures that 8 Water is as fresh and pure as possible when it reaches our customers, something we are really proud of.
That’s why we only bottle at source from our very deep aquifers as and when required, untouched by human hand until it reaches the consumer. So, in New Zealand, our end consumer can be drinking 8 Water that was underground only two weeks before. It is that fresh.
Clean drinking water is a precious resource in most parts of the world. As three New Zealand Kiwasians (sound like Kiwis but look Asian) who spent our early years in Asia or with Asian family members, we understand how clean water can often be a luxury. We really appreciate our easy access to clean drinking water in this country.
So, when New Zealanders, like us, choose a bottled water it’s got to be pretty special. That’s why we sought out New Zealand’s finest, artesian water. Fortunately, New Zealand in its isolated corner of the world with its majestic mountains and snow-fed rivers, just happens to be sitting on a sustainable source of one of the purest and cleanest waters in the world. And still today only the lucky few know about it.
Go on, try it now. Taste water at its finest.
The significance of the number "8"
Our brand concept sprang from our Kiwasian background.
No.8 wire, so familiar around New Zealand farms, symbolises the Kiwi “can do” mentality. This attitude is deeply instilled in us and how we do things.
8 is the symbol of infinity and an auspicious number in Asian cultures. There is no end to the sustainable nature of our artesian water source. 8 represents limitless opportunities and possibilities. 8 represents prosperity, fortune, luck, and joy.
For good health we’re told we should drink 8 glasses of water a day. All these ideas are encapsulated by our round diamond-cut logo design to emphasise the luxuriousness of the brand. And, like our water, diamonds are also created naturally over centuries.
Our mission at 8 Water New Zealand is to provide one of nature’s purest water to the world in a sustainable way while increasing the health and well-being of others.
The water’s origin is via evaporation from the Southern Ocean resulting in rainfall and snow over New Zealand’s mountain ranges. The water accumulates in the underground aquifers and surface flow that then is discharged into the South Pacific Ocean. This cycle represents a renewable resource that can be sustainably harvested while having minimal environmental impact.
8 Water New Zealand environmental policy
8 Water New Zealand shall fulfill its social obligation as a good corporate citizen, striving for harmonious balance between its business activities and the global environment and taking care to use its resources efficiently and prevent pollution.
8 Water New Zealand will:
Reuse, Repurpose, and Recycle
8 Water encourages our consumers to Reuse, Repurpose, and Recycle their 8 water glass or PET bottles to play their part in reducing the negative human impact on the environment. This helps reduce the pressure on natural resources.
8 Water plastic bottle is made of Polyethylene Teraphthalate (PET) which is an approved material used in the manufacture of water bottles. It is 100% recyclable and it is one of the most recycled plastic. Studies have shown no evidence to suggest concern that PET affects water content in any way.
8 Water uses thicker walled BPA free PET bottles so they are less likely to crack and be susceptible to contamination from the outside world. Reusing PET water bottles as a drink container is deemed safe by health and safety agencies around the world.
